Studio practice 3b- Research, ‘hippie’ stereotype.
What have I done?
As part of my research for the ‘hippie’ stereotype I have been looking at various websites which will help me understand the stereotype a lot more clearly. I came across this particular website http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/the-most-ridiculously-hippie-things-at-bonnaroo#.lxxJKpL0n
A blog which has quite a lot of interesting imagery to help me understand the ‘hippie’ stereotype more clearly, it had images of clothing , lifestyle and location, which all are very useful to help me put forward the stereotype.
What have I got from it?
From looking at this website I have received a better idea on what the ‘hippie’ stereotype is, I have more knowledge on the type of locations this stereotype is linked with, this will help me provide a better a narrative when photographing this stereotype.
I also have a deeper understanding of the type of props which will be useful to get my narrative across.
What is next?
Next is to use my findings and gather props and clothing which is relatable and or similar and begin to plan my photo shoot effectively.
Studio practice 3b – Prop searching
What have I done?
Continuing on from my previous shoot, I believe that before photographing my next stereotype, that it would be neccessary to throughly research into it, looking at imagery associated with the stereotype, props which would be useful and also locations which would be suitable.
Here is a few images from props which I found that I believe could be suitable to use in my ‘hippie’ stereotype, I assume these objects would be correct to use to form the stereotype from researching into the stereotype.
What have I got from it?
I believe from doing this, my photo shoots will be more narrative and meaningful, as I have put more research into the stereotype before photographing. I feel my photo shoots will be more planned, as I have took the type, to look into suitable props and clothing. If I do this before every shoot I believe they will be more successful because they are planned and not just photographed on a ‘whim’.
What is next?
Next is to put my found props to use in a photo shoot, and test them to see if they work photographically and narratively. I think I will test these props by doing two differently by doing one head shot styled one and the other on location. The location shoot will also require me to do through research into suitable locations, I will also need to look at things such as weather forecasts before planning my shoot, this will help with any clashes with on locations shoots and weather. To also battle this issue I can come up with a back up shoot plan, just in case the weather is not in my favour.
